Abstract: The very first translated version of the Internationale was published in October, 1920 on a weekly called Labourer issued in Guangdong province. However, the identity of the translator with the name Lie Bei has always been a mystery. In this article, the author has made exploration, proving that the translator was in fact Ou Shengbai, a student at Peking University during the May Fourth period and a famous anarchist, and thus solved this long-suspended historical issue. Based on the above research, some new explanation concerning the earliest translation and dissemination of the Internationale has also been put forward.
